Acts 3:1-26

Wonder of wonders

This passage contains both a sermon and a sign. Peter's sermon was that the promised blessing all the way from Abraham had come in Jesus. The sign was there as evidence that what Peter said was true.

In this sermon, God wants us to know 4 things...

Our privilege

The apostles were eye-witnesses to Jesus life, death, resurrection, and now this miracle. Most other people didn't know very much about Jesus. Our privilege is that this knowledge has been saved on we have many many versions of the Bible, books to read and sermons to listen to.

Our sin

Like those who handed Jesus over to be executed, we are sinners against God. Sure it might not seem anywhere near the level of killing the Son of God, but it's all the same. We put things ahead of Jesus in our lives. Peter also makes it clear that ignorance is not an excuse.

Our saviour

The people saw Jesus as nothing but a false prophet, a criminal. They would not save Him from crucifixion. But God sees who Jesus truly is. He is the one true prophet, the promised Messiah. God sent Him to be your saviour. Each of us needs to choose which view we take on Jesus.

God's blessing

If we acknowledge Jesus as our saviour, we can experience God's blessing. That is the forgiveness of our sins, spritiual refreshment, and Jesus' eventual return.
